About the Role

Focus Area

Responsibility

Matrix Assessment

Mapping current Board skills against future needs (e.g., do we have enough "Digital Twin" or "Green Hydrogen" expertise?).

CEO Succession

Leading the high-stakes search for the next CEO, ensuring they possess the technical depth and the diplomatic skill required for Industrials.

Diversity of Thought

Moving beyond "token" diversity to include veterans, engineers, and supply chain experts from adjacent heavy industries.

Board Evaluation

Running the "mirror test"—critically assessing whether the current Board is too stagnant or too disconnected from the shop floor.

Independence Oversight

Ensuring the Board remains independent from management, especially during major M&A or government contract bids.

Requirements

The Committee Member in the Aerospace domain is responsible for the long-term design of the Board of Directors. You identify the specific skills needed to oversee complex engineering projects, global defense contracts, and the transition to sustainable aviation (e.g., hydrogen or electric propulsion). You are the gatekeeper of the company’s culture and its most senior talent pipeline.

Key Role Requirements (Industrial/Aerospace Focus)

  • Geopolitical Acumen: Understanding how global trade alliances and defense treaties (like AUKUS or NATO shifts) affect board-level decision-making.

  • Safety & Quality Culture: A deep-seated "safety-first" mindset. In Aerospace, a leadership failure in quality isn't just a financial risk; it's a human one.

  • Multi-Generational Planning: Ability to recruit leaders who can manage a 20-year aircraft program while simultaneously innovating in agile space-tech.

  • Regulatory Fluency: Familiarity with the FAA, EASA, and defense procurement protocols (ITAR/EAR).
